What is Faith?

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. ~ Hebrews 11:1

la la la la la la la la la la linda

There used to be an old Jan & Dean song called Linda. I can tell you first hand that although it was a hit for them, it was one of their least favorite songs. Well I must tell you that it is a hit here in at least one very large family here in Tacoma.

Linda is the resident manager of Tacoma's only family transitional housing. At first glance you wouldn't think with the military style hair cut, 32 tattoos and facial piercings that this would be someone you could consider mentor. Nothing could be further from the truth. All, and I do mean all of the 120 residents & their families love her. Although I have only known her for a few short hours, it is so very evident that she cares for each & every one of them. She has a heart the size of the state she resides in, and I am the better for having met her. Her "family", as she calls the residents, thrive under her care and when they leave at the end of their 18 month stay, it is with sadness that they depart from their friend.

Linda invited us to take a tour of the facility, which we gladly accepted, but she went above & beyond. She opened her home to us, total strangers and treated us as if we had been friends for years. She cooked for us, let us shower in her home and even gave up her personal bed. Amazing. And from what I have heard from her residents that she treats everyone equally.

This woman is someone who I am proud to have in my corner, and Tacoma is lucky to have her.
Linda, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are an amazing woman.
